Sophia Fratta is a Colombian-Italian writer and artist. She has won over a dozen awards from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her writing, including a national gold medal for flash fiction and a national gold medal for writing portfolio. Her portfolio, ROOTED, was sponsored by the New York Times. Her science writing has earned her the title of Borlaug Scholar from the World Food Prize foundation.

Sophia’s art has been recognized both regionally and nationally. She received a gold key and an American Visions Award nomination from the Scholastic Arts & Writing Awards for her piece “My Mother’s Blouse Does Not Fit Me (La blusa de mi madre no me queda),” which was subsequently awarded 1st place in the 41st Annual Congressional Art Competition and hung up for display on Capitol Hill between May 2022 and May 2023.
